St Patrick's Boys AFC Green v Carrick Utd AFC
Game not played
u14 sfai 14/09 13:15
St Patrick's Boys AFC Green 0 - 3 Carrick Utd AFC

This was the third year that St. Patrick's Boys Pink (girls team) have entered the competition.

They were drawn in the first year against the boys team from St. Pats who were lucky winners on that day. The boys won 5-4.

Last year they turned up to play a Wexford team who on finding out that the team was made up of girls refused to play the game and eventually agreed to a 'friendly'. If you have seen them play you would understand why. Many a boy is afraid of the girls team who play some of the most exciting soccer in the Carlow District Juvenile Leagues boys league.

This year they did not get the opportunity to travel and play as they were told not to by the Football Association of Irelands Head Office who would not allow them play in the Competition.

Again ta big THANK YOU to the Carlow District Juvenile Soccer League who are so supportive of female participation in Soccer in Carlow. If only FAI head Office was so supportive of the female game.

Crettyard show Racism Red Card day

On Saturday 22nd October Crettyard UTD AFC Juvenile club "Showed Racism the red card!"

Our small club is located off the N78 in rural county Laois , situated close to the borders of both Kilkenny and Carlow.

Our engagement with the campaign was simple but effective . Both our Under 13 and Under 12 teams were playing their league games against Hanover Harps and Vale wanderers . Both Cretty yard team managers Ramon Buggy and Martin Rice gave full support by allowing pre match preparation to be interrupted by Aine Geoghegan (Club Secretary)

Deen Celtic v St Patrick's Boys AFC
Congratulations Dean Celtic
u16 sfai 14/09 14:30
Deen Celtic 2 - 0 St Patrick's Boys AFC

The game was played under almost perfect conditions with Dean Celtic running out winners. Pats were limited with their chances on goal, through out the game, but did get some which were well saved by the Dean Celtic goalkeeper. The back 4 were solid in defence and were hard to break down.

Best of luck to Dean Celtic in the next round from all at St. Patrick's Boys AFC.

St Patrick's Boys AFC v Moyne Rangers
Bad day at the office
14/09 12:00
St Patrick's Boys AFC 0 - 8 Moyne Rangers

This game was played under perfect conditions in The Meadows. The sun was shining and the ground was firm under foot.

The game couldn't have started any worse for Pats who were 4-0 down after a mere 7 minutes. Pats then grew into the game and were the better team in the first half but could not score. The first half finished 5-0.

Pats again started slowly in the second half and before they knew it were 8-0 down. A late strike on goal was well saved by the Moyne goal keeper to deny Pats even one goal.

Best of luck to Moyne Ranges a truly good team in the next round.

U8 and U9 Format
player development plan u8.9

The format for the u8 and u9 is going to be two teams playing dual games so there will be two matches going on at the same time on a full pitch. The example below shows what happens if you play on a full pitch. With the u8 and u9 everybody will play four 12 minute quarters.

Bohemians FC v St Patrick's Boys AFC Red
Great win for St. Patrick's Boys AFC over Bohemians of Waterford
u14 sfai 14/09 12:30
Bohemians FC 0 - 2 St Patrick's Boys AFC Red

This was a game that had it all. The weather was good and the pitch was perfect.

This was a game where Saint Pat's were lucky to walk away with the win.

The game started at 14:34. Pats dominated the first 15 minutes of the game but gradually Bohs showed their class and started to dominate the game. It took 27 minutes for Bohs to break down Pats and score a well worked and deserved goal. Pats dug deep from the restart and within 2 minutes equalised through 'Super Sergio' a signing from Spain. From a corner Sergio struck the ball on the volley and scored and outstanding goal. Any Premier League striker would be nominated goal of the month if they scored such a goal. The Bohs goalkeeper despite his best efforts could not save the goal despite his best efforts. The first half ended shortly after.

The second half started well for Pats who brought the game to Bohs. Both teams attached hard and played some excellent football. 12 minutes into the half a Pats player was pushed in the back about 25m from goal and was awarded a foul. Super Sergio stepped up and stuck the pall in the top of the net. The goal keeper just could not save it.

Bohs were shocked to find themselves 2-1 down and after about 8 more minutes of neither team having a good chance on goal, Bohs turned on the style and limited Pats opportunities on goal and chances to get out of their own half to just a hand full. They must have won 7 or 8 corners and peppered the Pats goal with shots. Pure determination, some world class goalkeeping from Adam Allaiouiti and a whole lot of luck stopped Bohs from scoring.

The game ended 2-1 to Pats.

Man of the match Super Sergio Gutierrez.

Best for Pats - Adam Allaiouiti, Conor Buggy and Ruairc Murray.

U11 and U10 Blitz Format
Blitz procedure

This year the format for u11 and u10 is dual games as above in the diagram so there is two games going on at the same time across a big pitch. There will be one official ref and the clubs take it in turn to officiate the other game. The ref swaps pitches at half time so all kids get equal time with ref. There will be four teams at most grounds every week unless a club ask for the day off. If two of the teams are from the same club then we play two 40 minute matches (20mins a half) to avoid the club playing against itself.

Evergreen v Hanover Harps AFC
u14 sfai 14/09 16:00
Evergreen 3 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC

Hanover started brightly and should really have been ahead before eventually taking the lead when a shot by Jamie Coakley was spilled into the path of Roland Sanni who finished to the net. Hanover were still on top but conceded an equaliser against the run of play when a rebound from a free kick was followed up by the Evergreen striker. Hanover went looking for a goal in response and were rewarded when a fine finish to the roof of the net by Ryan Fitzgerald made it 2-1. Hanover could have scored more but some last ditch defending by Evergreen kept it 2-1 at half time. Hanover were very slow to come out of the blocks in the second half and conceded 2 goals in 5 minutes both from set pieces. Hanover pressed for an equaliser for most of the second half but just couldn't get it having 2 balls cleared off the line and a number of chances narrowly missed.

Disappointing result after a good performance for a lot of the game but lapse just after half time proved costly.

Best for Hanover were Ryan Fitzgerald, Eoin Myers and Jamie Walker.
